Creative Director & Managing Partner
At this point I should tell you all about my career but as we all know it’s the things that we don’t put on our CV that are important. Nowhere on my CV do I mention my love of the Daily Telegraph sport pages or how Max Hastings gave me a job as youth sports feature writer straight out of university. I do mention that I spent nearly 15 years at the BBC as a Producer and Creative Director but I fail to mention that I accidentally dislocated a man’s shoulder in the fire doors at TV Centre. Accidentally being the key fact.
I don’t mention that I had an amazing experience living and working in Toronto for 5 years but I talk about launching BBC Canada and BBC Kids. While TV has been “home” for most of my working life “content” is where we now live. I love making video to tell a good story, apparently the world is full of “storytellers” these days but I really did start my career as one in black and white.
No where on my CV do I mention hobbies, but I feel it necessary to disclose that if I won the lottery I wouldn’t give up work; instead I’d hire a full time sherpa to carry all my stuff on a world tour of cooling towers and he could then double up as my caddie on the best links courses across the globe. Digital Strategist & Managing Partner
Over the last 16 years, I have worked for major global brands (Masterfoods, 3M, AOL, BBC) and agencies (WPP) where I held senior digital marketing positions.
Taking this media and advertising experience plus my passion for online/digital, I have helped start-ups (Intent HQ, JustGo) and other businesses get their digital and social strategy up and running.
I managed local and international teams in marketing, creative and sales. Working globally, I have built a large network within the digital industry.
Speaking French, English and Spanish, I hold Master’s degrees in Economics, Management, and Marketing from Caen University and ESSEC in France.
Aside from work, I play golf (…getting there!), and drums in a Jazz Band.
I have over 20 years experience in the broadcasting industry where I spent the majority of my career working for BBC Radio Entertainment.
As a Radio Producer I worked on a huge range of programmes including panel shows, topical music programmes, Radio Comedy Dramas through to award winning sketch shows.
Over the last 7 years I have freelanced in a Production Coordinator capacity on a wide variety of programmes and have also produced many Audio Books, combining my passion for all things audio & literature!
I’d like to say I have plenty of hobbies and interests outside of work but with 2 young children these are sadly a thing of the past!
I’m an experienced video editor and producer. Initially I started my career as a runner and edit assistant, otherwise known as professional coffee maker and office dog’s body! It wasn’t long however until I got the chance to hone my skills in the edit suite working on live music events, doco’s, web content and commercials, plus editing/producing half hour and full hour motor racing programmes for Channel 4, Sky Sports and Eurosport, as well as working in Qatar and Dubai on an international power boating series.
But who needs all that sun when you have the beautiful surroundings of SE1 to look at every day? Here at RATCHET I have filmed and cut both broadcast and B2B promotional material for clients such as BBC Worldwide, BBC, all3media, ITV and Freeview. As well as plying my trade to the world of apps. One of them, an innovative online golfing app series, which has taught me a thing or two about my own game!
I’m at home using Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, and the old but gold, Final Cut Pro. Jack-of-all-trades, master of… we’ll leave it there.
I am a multi-disciplined creative with over 15 years experience as a print, branding and web designer, art director and conceptualiser in experiential marketing.
Because I live and breathe all things Photoshop and Illustrator, I tend to be everyone’s best friend, especially when they need a picture of themselves to be “touched up!”
Motion Graphic Designer
As a designer I try to make these guys look good! I’m a graduate from Ravensbourne with a BA (hons) degree in motion graphics and a YCN Student Awards winner. I enjoy the challenge of handling a variety of 3d and 2d graphic tasks that come through the door; creating complex 3d animation in Cinema 4D to crafting stills and photo retouching.
I have worked on a range of commercial briefs that have required motion graphics, good old-fashioned graphic design, branding, advertising pitches and film-making. I am at home using Cinema 4D, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator as well as having some experience working in Realflow. I have created graphic solutions for television branding, on air promos, show title sequences, corporate identity, product visualisation and infographics. I like to think I lower the age range in the RATCHET team and delaying what I like to call the ‘Battenberg effect’.
Starting with a vague goal of wanting to ‘work in telly’, I did a stint as a runner before finding myself in script development at BBC Drama. All was right with the world until I was handed a camera and Avid Xpress DV and asked to make a few internal videos. I quickly discovered that making video was where it’s at and developed my skills while shooting and/or editing corporate and promotional films, the odd music video, trailers, showreels and music festival web content largely for the BBC and other companies.
As the newest member of the RATCHET family I bring a never-ending appetite for food, an encyclopaedic knowledge of movies and my skills and experience in content creation. In that order.
Our main objective is the success of our clients, whatever the industry and whatever the size.
